Garnet Valley running back Jordyn Bennett will join the North roster in this year’s Chesapeake Bowl.
Bennett rushed for 525 yards (7.2 per carry) and five touchdowns for the Jaguars this season.
The annual “Civil War” game, featuring players from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C., takes place Dec. 29 at Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex in Lanover, Md.
Bennett will be teammates with Cardinal O’Hara offensive lineman Carmen Cervella.

Nice to see. I notice they have Bennett listed as a WR for the game. Wonder if that is what he is projected for in college.
Also, Damiere Shaw out of O’Hara is playing in the Big 33 and Steve Lennox from Interboro is an assistant coach for the game:

Good for Bennett. Many would say this was a dissapointing season for him compared to last year (Almost an 11 Yards Per Carry, 800 Yards Rushing) , but in Garnet Valley’s offense, the Slot’s (Runningback’s in the option) are definitely not the primary option.

Yeah, he didn’t have the big stats, but I’m certain he’ll go somewhere and have a successful college career.

Andy he’s being recruited as an ATH and also being considered as a DB. Garnet Valley doesn’t use the slot back as a main rusher and doesn’t throw a lot so it’s hard to say where he’ll land. However, his career statistics are impressive. 157 carries 1400 yds 22 TD’s 8.9 per carry; 19 rec 243 yds 1 TD 12.8 per rec. Best of Luck to all the Delco players participating in post season games.
Those are some great rushing stats. Wish him and all the players in Delco (and elsewhere) the best in getting to go to the colleges of their choice. The great thing is there can be a fit for most players with some ability. Most kids won’t play for a BCS school, put playing football at any level in college is an accomplishment and a lot of fun. For those who hang up the cleats after high school, it’s still an accomplishment just to make a varsity football team – and even if you only contribute on the scout team, you have been an integral part of the team. I have a lot of admiration for kids who stick it out without getting much playing time.
@James not disappointing at all when you consider he averaged 5 or 6 carries a game and in the 5 blow out wins barely played in the second half. A perfect example of making the most of what opportunities you get. Also, like you said the slot is not the primary option. He’s getting a lot of Ivy League interest.
