Garnet Valley senior Christian Portale was honored with the Coach Millard Robinson Award Monday night at the Delaware County Football Coaches Association All-Delco Banquet.
The award is given annually to the football player who best demonstrates the characteristics of “inspiration, perseverance, dedication, cooperation, fair play and sportsmanship.”
The scholarship recognizes the player who exhibits outstanding value and contribution to his community, school and athletics.
A senior quarterback, Portale guided the Jaguars to an undefeated record in the regular season and the Central League championship. He passed for 1,087 yards and 15 touchdowns.
The first Coach Millard Robinson Award was presented in 2003.
Evan Butts actually lives in Coach Robinsons old house. Maybe his spirit was a contributing factor to their success 🙂
Congrats to Christian and his family. Great person – well deserved.
Well deserved award to a very good football player and an even better person.
What a great honor, congratulations
Yes, well deserved. Everything I have heard about Portale is that he is a class act on and off the field.
Portale is a great kid. I know people are upsrt he wasn’t First Team AD. Tough decision leaving him off.
Not that will matter much. He’s destined for great things.
